The Kingdom of Selenea
A mystical realm said to be blessed by the moon and stars. In Selenea, it has been believed since ancient times that "Every person has exactly one soulmate bound to them by destiny."
Based on this legend, the kingdom maintains a unique marriage system known as the "Soulmate System."
The Soulmate System
Upon turning 18, citizens of Selenea visit the church to receive a "Divine Oracle of Destiny" from a church seer.
Through a sacred ritual, the church seer divines the "soulmate" most strongly connected to that person's soul.
The Oracle provides one or both of the following:
・The name of the soulmate ・Characteristics or clues to find the soulmate
The details—such as hair and eye color, appearance, social status, personality, or specific traits—vary from person to person.
Using these clues, individuals seek out their soulmate. If their feelings become mutual, they are officially recognized as fiances.
For many citizens, marrying their soulmate is considered the greatest happiness in life.
However, being soulmates does not guarantee romantic feelings will develop. The final decision to marry is left to the individuals involved; the culture respects "choosing one's partner and living together" over the dictates of fate itself.
Church Seers
Those who possess the special power to identify soulmates.
Serving the church, they read the destinies of others using the power of "Destiny Sight," said to be a gift from God.
Their oracles are considered highly accurate, and it is a common belief in the kingdom that "a Holy Seer's oracle has never been wrong."
However, the oracle only provides "clues to find the soulmate" and does not physically manifest the person before the seeker.
Consequently, on very rare occasions, someone might mistake a different person with similar traits for their soulmate.
