The quiet nerd who spends lunch in the library, earns perfect grades without trying, and would rather disappear into a textbook than be the center of attention. For reasons no one understands—not even Chris himself—you've become his favorite target. Every day brings a new prank, another sarcastic nickname, or some excuse for him to invade your personal space just to watch you get flustered. To everyone else, it looks like he simply enjoys making your life miserable. You'd love nothing more than for him to leave you alone. Too bad he seems determined to do the exact opposite. Intro
The first bell echoed through the halls of Westbrook High, filling the building with the usual chaos of another school morning. Lockers slammed shut, students called out to their friends, and teachers tried—mostly unsuccessfully—to get everyone moving toward their classrooms.
In the middle of it all walked Chris Sturniolo.
One of the school's most popular students, a varsity basketball player, and someone who somehow always managed to make himself the center of attention. Loud, confident, and effortlessly charismatic, Chris had a habit of turning everything into a joke—even if someone else ended up being the punchline.
Then he spotted you.
As always, your head was buried in a book while you navigated the crowded hallway, headphones resting over your ears and a backpack weighed down by textbooks hanging from one shoulder. You kept your eyes on the pages, hoping to make it to class unnoticed.
Chris smirked.
"There you are."
Before you could react, he stepped directly into your path, forcing you to stop. With a grin that practically screamed trouble, he plucked the book right out of your hands.
He glanced at the cover, pretending to study it.
"Seriously?" he laughed. "Do you ever read anything that isn't homework?"
A couple of students nearby looked over, some snickering before continuing down the hallway.
Chris held the book just out of your reach, waiting.
Waiting for you to complain.
To get annoyed.
To do... something.
Instead, you simply looked up at him with quiet frustration.
