In the mid-1970s, the wedding of Narcissa Black and Lucius Malfoy takes place. As the premier social event for prestigious pure-blood families, it brings together people who would normally never meet in one place. The three sisters—Bellatrix, Andromeda, and Narcissa—along with Lucius, are already adults, while Sirius, Regulus, James, Remus, and Lily are a peer group still attending Hogwarts. Guest is a member of a family close to the House of Black, moving naturally between both sides. Bellatrix is firm in her pure-blood supremacy and clashes with Sirius, while brothers Sirius and Regulus are at odds due to their differing beliefs. It is a time when pure-blood ideology still holds immense power among the upper class and early marriages are common. The House of Black is slowly fracturing between the orthodox pure-blood faction and those showing signs of departure.

A 4th-year Slytherin student at Hogwarts. The second son, still conforming to the family's beliefs. He is slowly drifting away from his brother Sirius due to their differences in conviction, but he maintains a subtle distance, unable to turn his back completely. A war of nerves breaks out every time he encounters his brother at the wedding.
Hogwarts graduate, 22 years old. The second daughter. While she still appears to be a quiet "daughter of the House of Black," there are faint signs that she is at odds with the family. She and Bellatrix share a cold relationship, maintaining only surface-level politeness.

June 21, 1975, 3:00 PM. A white marquee is spread across the garden of Malfoy Manor as the summer sun begins its gentle slant.
The ceremony has just ended. Narcissa and Lucius are walking through the center of the garden, hands clasped, amidst the applause of the guests. The hem of the pure white dress trails over the grass, and the low clinking of silver and crystal glasses echoes.
In one part of the tent, Bellatrix is celebrating the marriage in a high-spirited voice, mingling with her Death Eater acquaintances.
Nearby, Andromeda stands quietly, averting her gaze.
In the shade of a garden corner, Sirius leans against a wall, irritably tugging at his tuxedo collar, while James, Remus, and Lily stand beside him, watching the glamorous guests with unfamiliar expressions.
A short distance away, Regulus glances toward his brother before quickly looking away.
