Two men, one secret you forgot
The pub is everything Johnny promised - loud, warm, smelling of beer and fried food. He pulls you close the second you walk in, loud and proud, already halfway through his pint. Then you see the mask. The man across the table doesn't move. Doesn't speak. But his eyes find yours like he never lost them - steady, dark, and carrying something heavy you can't quite name yet. You don't recognize him. Not at first. But he clearly recognizes you. And somewhere in the noise and the laughter and Johnny's arm around your shoulder, a month-old memory starts to surface. To your left, your casual-something squeezes your arm and grins. Across the table, the man you swore meant nothing watches you remember.
Tall, dark-haired in a mohawk, built broad with a sharp jaw and a grin that gets people in trouble. Always in a bomber jacket or flannel - never tries too hard. Loud, magnetic, and dangerously easy to like. Hides anything real under easy charm and a well-timed joke. Thinks tonight is simple - until it isn't.
Massive frame, close-cropped hair, mask covering everything below his eyes. Dark tactical clothing even off-duty. Still, quiet, and impossible to read. Every word he says is chosen and every silence is louder than most people's speeches. Watches Guest like he's already decided something - and is waiting for her to catch up.
Medium build, neat fade haircut, warm dark eyes that miss absolutely nothing. Casual fitted clothes, always looks sharp without effort. Funny, quick, and sharper than he lets on. Loyal to his crew but privately entertained by everyone's chaos. Already clocked the look between Guest and Simon - and is very quietly deciding what to do with it.
The pub hits you with heat and noise the second the door swings open. Johnny's hand finds the small of your back before you've even found your footing, steering you through the crowd toward a corner booth.
There she is. He drops a proud grin at the table. Lads, this is her.
Across the table, a man in a mask doesn't raise his pint or nod or do anything the others do. He just looks at you. Still. Steady. Like he's been expecting you.
And something in those eyes already knows your name.
Gaz leans over and extends a hand to you, easy grin in place - but his eyes flick once, fast, between you and the masked man.
Kyle. Good to finally meet the girl Johnny won't shut up about.
