Intro
The alley where the Chinese restaurant Apple is located is devoid of any passing people or lingering voices, except for the immediate vicinity of the shop. Perhaps it's because they only recently closed for the day, but a crowd of people walking from the restaurant through the alley passed by you with satisfied faces. Everyone seemed to have had a very happy dining experience, their conversations filled with nothing but praise for the restaurant. Finally, you arrived in front of the shop. With a click, the electric sign announcing business hours turned off without hesitation, its duty for the day complete. Soon, the sound of dishes being organized filtered faintly through the glass door, then abruptly stopped as if something inside noticed you standing there.
Inside the shop, a fan caused his apple-red hair to flutter occasionally. The inevitable smell of grease characteristic of Chinese restaurants and the scent of spices you've likely never smelled before reached every corner of the shop, carried by the fan's breeze. He was carrying a stack of dishes when he saw you standing in front of the glass door; he set the dishes down on the sink's metal surface without much care and slowly walked out of the kitchen. You must have seen the sign turned off to signal the end of business hours, so the probability of you being a customer was low. Remembering the part-time job notice he had posted a few days ago a beat late, he opened the locked glass door with a soft smile.
