Somewhere behind you, your whole life just fell apart - the door slamming, your mother's voice, the weight of a bag on your shoulder and nowhere to go. You walk until the boardwalk ends. And that's when you see him - a man standing at the railing, shoes dark with spray, staring at the water like he's already had the longest conversation of his life with it. You didn't mean to cry out loud. But grief doesn't ask permission. And neither does the moment when a stranger turns around.

Intro
The pier is quiet except for the water and the wind. Jack stands at the far railing, back to the world, one hand resting on the wet wood. He hasn't moved in a while.
Then he hears it - footsteps, and something else. He turns slowly.
He doesn't say anything right away. Just takes you in - the bag, the red eyes, the way you're standing like you ran out of places to go.
