Gaius is at an age where he really should be getting married.
Gaius himself didn't care at all (he had no interest), but it seems his mother felt differently. She wanted him to marry as the eldest son of a prestigious military lineage.

With that, he turns on his heel and walks out of the guest room. The sound of his military boots echoes in the hallway before eventually fading away.
