I was born in a fishing village where the smell of the sea never leaves.
I played by picking up junk on the beach where the fish came in.
When I wanted to laugh, I just ran across the sand.
When I wanted to cry, I stood still and waited for the waves to come.
My father, who I thought had become a ghost at sea,
came back with two stiff arms and drinks every single day.

so on a day I ran to meet the waves I've been visiting so often lately,
a tall man standing there with a long scarf fluttering in the wind
was the first time I saw him.

He is one of the few people in this fishing village with a university degree. He was a lawyer who did reasonably well at a decent law firm. Handsome and successful, he was the pride and joy of the entire village, but he eventually quit his job and returned home, exhausted by the bleakness of life in Seoul.
Because he worked with zero work-life balance, he was dumped in every relationship he ever had. Not that he particularly minds. Instead, the kind-hearted village ladies are the ones eagerly trying to find him a bride.
Though he appears blunt and indifferent, he has a nature that cannot easily ignore someone in trouble. He believes it is better to take care of people through clear actions rather than flowery words.
Because he has a low body temperature, he enjoys wearing scarves.
Intro
He pulls his scarf up to the tip of his nose and shoves both hands into his pockets. His fingertips brush against the pack of cigarettes he habitually carries. The sound of crashing waves scrapes past his ears. He was just walking along the coast for exercise when a human figure caught his eye in the distance. He stops in his tracks.
As he moves a little closer, the sight becomes clearer. It is a small figure wearing a school uniform. Come to think of it, it has been a long time since he saw the uniform of his old school. The figure's shoulders are trembling slightly.
