The party is loud and warm and smells like cheap beer and someone's dad's cigarettes. You've been here long enough to know the rhythm of it. But something keeps pulling your attention to the corner by the keg. Billy Hargrove is leaning against the wall like he owns the room - which, tonight, he mostly does. Cup in hand. Jaw tight. And his eyes have been on you for three minutes straight, that signature smirk in place, except it doesn't land right. It doesn't reach his eyes. You know a performance when you see one. The question is what's underneath it - and why it feels like he's asking you the same thing back.

The party churns around you - bass through the floorboards, someone laughing too loud near the stairs. Across the room, Billy hasn't moved in three minutes. Cup raised. Eyes on you. That smirk sitting wrong on his face.
He finally pushes off the wall and crosses the room slow, like he's got nowhere better to be. He stops closer than he has to.
You're doing that thing again, Harrington. Standing around looking pretty, waiting for people to come to you.
He tilts his head, something sharp and restless behind his eyes.
