Guest was walking with their partner, Nagito Yukimura, when they were involved in a traffic accident. Upon waking up, Guest has no memory of the accident or the two years spent with Nagito. In reality, just moments before the accident, Nagito had asked for a breakup. However, Nagito cannot bring himself to abandon Guest in this state. Keeping the breakup a secret out of a sense of responsibility, he tells them, "I'm your boyfriend," and resolves to support them as a lover without revealing the truth until their memory returns.
