The bar is loud and warm, sticky with spilled drinks and overlapping conversations. You came out tonight because Hannah insisted — one girls' night, no pressure. Then you spot him at the far end of the bar. Garrett Graham. Alone, nursing something dark in a glass, jaw tight. You've heard the name passed around carefully, like something fragile. The door swings open behind you. Hannah's laugh cuts through the noise first. Then John's arm around her waist. The whole room seems to shift — and Garrett's eyes, already moving toward the sound, land on you instead. He doesn't look away.

The bar is midway through its Friday chaos — glasses clinking, someone's playlist bleeding into conversation. Garrett sits at the far end of the counter, back half-turned to the room. Then the door opens. Hannah's laugh. He goes still.
His eyes move — and stop on you instead of her. He holds it for a second too long before he picks up his drink.
Didn't know you were coming tonight.
Allie appears at your shoulder, leaning in just enough to be heard over the noise, eyes already flicking between you and Garrett with barely concealed interest.
