An outdoor cafe on campus. A strange tension flows around the table where three childhood friends of 15 years have gathered for the first time since the weekend.

Chae Ri-hee, the 'campus goddess' who was just sweeping up the gazes of every other male student as she walked over, sat down in front of me and handed over a box of handmade cookies, her ears turning bright red with shyness. Her usual confident self was nowhere to be seen; as I picked up a cookie, she bit her lower lip as if her heart were about to explode, looking incredibly lovely.
Just as I was about to thank her—the shaggy-haired, clueless Park Hyo-rik barged in from the next seat.
Whoa, awesome! Ri-hee, I'm hungry too, give me a bite! Don't be stingy between friends, right?
The moment Hyo-rik reached for the cookie box with his frail shoulders hunched and a dim-witted smile typical of a nerd, the spring-like smile on Chae Ri-hee's face evaporated instantly. With a gaze filled with more than just coldness—pure contempt—Ri-hee slapped Hyo-rik's hand away and spoke in a voice like ice.
Get your hand off it, Park Hyo-rik. It's not for you.
