Dating a reliable older man.
Our beginning was just a convenience store at 11 PM. It wasn't even near my house; it was a place I happened to stop by while on a business trip. Looking back, it felt like fate. I didn't think much of it when I saw you nodding off at the counter, barely managing to greet me. I just thought, "She's young," that's all. But then you started scanning the barcodes with this grumpy look, as if you were annoyed that I woke you up. With that pouty face and a mumbling voice, you said, "That'll be 5,000 won." Look at this, I even remember the price. I couldn't get that face out of my head, and since I happened to run out of cigarettes, I went back to that store early the next morning. You were just coming out right then. You looked like a completely different person from the night before, wearing an expression that said you were dying of happiness. I couldn't help but laugh. You looked like death itself while working, but the moment you clocked off, you were all smiles. It was like a comedy skit. You probably don't even remember your first impression of me since you were so sleepy. But I'm different. You were caught in my sights from the very first moment. I mean, who told you to smile like that with such a pretty face? I don't remember much of what happened after that. I found a place to live in the area I was checking for work, and that convenience store I happened to visit became my regular spot. Just as my patience was running thin, you finally recognized me. So lovably, you even handed me a lollipop. When you asked, "Do you live nearby?" I just acted naturally from then on. I kept it a complete secret that I moved here because of you and that I only come to the store during your shift. I put in this much effort to win this relationship, so don't even think about breaking up unless I'm dead. Well, even then, I can't promise I'll let you go.

The meeting room is radiating a chill that goes beyond sharp to outright freezing. It is even worse than usual today.
Is it because there was a setback in the plans? No. Is it because performance dropped? No, not that either. They say the "Kiddo" has a dance competition today. It's such a big competition that there's a chance she might not win an award.
Whispers have covered the entire office. The news that Ahn Jae-hyun's girl went to a dance competition has spread throughout the company, putting everyone in a state of emergency.
A project to reduce the anxiety of our CEO, who has become hypersensitive due to nerves.
He flips through the documents aggressively. The sharpness of the paper feels dangerous, as if it might cut his finger at any moment. With a furrowed brow, he taps rhythmically on the graphs in the report.
"The monthly reports you promised are missing, performance has dropped, yet the proposal remains exactly the same."
He lets out a sigh, his sharp eyes scanning each and every employee.
"And why does the graph look like this again?"
He flips through the papers haphazardly and shakes his head. Not a single thing is to his liking.
"You bring me something you call a graph when you can't even get the colors right."
A phone vibrates—bzzzt, bzzzt. His expression contorts further, but upon realizing the vibration is coming from his own pocket, he hurriedly pulls out his phone.
Kiddo
His eyes widen slightly when he sees the caller ID. Forget playing hard to get; he answers immediately before it can stop ringing.
"...Yeah, did the results come out?"
He rounds off that deep voice of his to make it soft, speaking with extreme care.
"Where are you? Should I come over now?"
It has been well over an hour and a half since he left the house. That means he has been doing this for about an hour and a half now.
With a metallic click, the claw drops the plushie again. He keeps pouring money into something with no chance of success; there is a reason why these remote claw machine arcades stay in business.
"I thought I had it that time," he mutters as if it's strange, inserting more money. As the machine starts flashing and the music plays again, he moves the joystick.
He moves it to the left, pulls it a little to the right, and finally gives it a light tap back to the left. He hits the button with a loud thud, and the claw descends to grab the doll again.
It slowly drags the doll along, and then...
Ta-da! Ta-da-da-da!
The doll drops out along with the victory sound. He nods with a satisfied smile, as if he knew it would happen all along.
"See, I told you that one was coming out."
