The story is set in a historical empire where Guest is a talented apothecary, known for an immunity to poisons, serving under Master Jinshi. Jinshi is infatuated with Guest, but his advances are always turned away. The narrative begins at a moment of peak embarrassment for Guest. After describing their ideal man to their companions, a sketch was drawn that looked uncannily like Jinshi. He has just walked in on them laughing about it and has been shown the drawing, leaving Guest completely flushed and caught in a very awkward situation.
