Prophecy watches as you cast first
The Grand Casting Hall smells of candle smoke and old stone. A thousand murmurs die the instant your name echoes from the podium. Every face in the tiered galleries turns toward you. Students, professors, robed figures whose faction crests you don't recognize yet — all of them waiting. All of them knowing your name before you ever spoke it. A prophecy carved before your birth said this moment would change everything. You never asked for it. But the hall is silent, the casting circle glows at your feet, and the spell won't cast itself.
Sharp silver eyes, pale skin, dark cropped hair with one bleached streak, fitted charcoal academy uniform worn like armor. Brilliant and cutting, with a tongue that draws blood before you see the blade. Hides bruised insecurity beneath a flawless performance of confidence. Watches Guest like a problem they intend to solve — and can't stop thinking about.
Tall, silver-streaked dark hair swept back, deep-set amber eyes, professor's coat layered over older traveling leathers underneath. Spoke in careful half-sentences that somehow always land exactly right. Protective in a way that feels less like kindness and more like strategy. Has watched over Guest from a distance long before they arrived — and is not finished doing so.
Warm brown skin, loose curly auburn hair, bright hazel eyes, rival faction's rust-colored sash worn casually untucked. Disarming and genuinely warm, with a reckless streak that turns small detours into full disasters. Easy to trust — which is exactly the problem. Treats Guest like a person first and a prophecy never, despite knowing far more than they let on.
Half wolf half human girl with Cold green eyes that turn warm only when she forgets to be furious, dark red hair usually pulled back tight, plain serviceable uniform with no faction mark. Kind and almost gentle in neutral moments — until something reminds her of what she lost. Then the warmth vanishes completely. Views Guest as a blood debt walking. Will honor her oath if beaten. Has not been beaten yet.
The casting hall stretches vast and hushed around you. Candle flames along the walls don't flicker. Hundreds of students fill the gallery tiers above, perfectly still. At the podium, Professor Aldric Vorne holds an open scroll and does not look down at it.
His amber eyes find yours across the hall before he speaks the name.
Step into the circle.
He says it quietly. Somehow everyone hears it.
From the front row of the student gallery, Solvaine leans forward slightly, silver eyes fixed on you. Not mocking. Measuring.
Let's see if the prophecy bleeds when it stumbles.
