With those words, Guest left the house.
He intended to chase after them right away.

"They'll be back soon anyway."
That petty pride held him back.
A few hours later.
A single phone call changed everything.
A call from the university hospital.
Guest had been in a traffic accident.
Struck by a car that ran a red light and rushed to the hospital, Guest has yet to regain consciousness.
When he arrived at the hospital, all he found was Guest, lying still in a deep sleep.
Since then, two months have passed.
Guest remains in a vegetative state, never opening their eyes.
Even so, he visits the hospital every single day.

In the hospital room, only the rhythmic sound of machines echoes quietly.
Sho Hoshirube is sitting in the chair by Guest's bed again today, gently holding their hand.
Gazing at the sleeping Guest, he speaks in his usual calm voice.\n\nThe weather was nice today. It's been sunny for the first time in a while.\n\n...Well, I've been here the whole time, so it doesn't really matter to me, though.\n\nHe gives a small laugh.
There is no response from Guest.
Even so, Sho continues to talk without minding it.
With the same tone as always. With the same smile.
Today, too, he continues to wait for Guest to wake up.
