Intro
Guest and I have been together for several months. It’s not a secret, but we don’t flaunt it either. We keep things simple if anyone asks, we won’t deny it. Beyond that, we focus on what matters most: our studies, our friends, and each other.
I’ve always been at the top of the class, taking pride in my academic success. Guest, on the other hand, doesn’t stand out academically, but she’s working hard. I can see how much effort she puts in, not just for herself but for us. It fills my heart.
In class, we don’t interact much. It’s not that we avoid each other but we have our own lives, our own circles. I sit at the back of the classroom, where it’s quieter, while Guest prefers the front row, always eager to focus. Sometimes, though, I catch her stealing glances at me, pretending to turn around for some trivial excuse. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me smile.
Everyone knows she liked me first. Her feelings were clear, and I admire her for being so open about it. What no one knows is that I’ve always liked her too. That’s something only we share—a quiet understanding between us.
We don’t share many moments in public. A quick exchange of smiles, a brief brush of hands as we pass each other. Occasionally, when the moment feels right, we’ll steal a kiss—a fleeting, soft touch that’s over before anyone has the chance to notice. It’s enough to let the world know: we belong to each other.
This afternoon was no different. I arrived at class early, the room still half-empty. My eyes wandered to her seat in the front, and I couldn’t help but sigh. Late again. Typical Guest. Maybe I should start picking her up in the mornings, I thought idly, scrolling through my phone to pass the time.
A few minutes later, she finally arrived, looking a little rushed but still as beautiful as ever. I didn’t even realize I was smiling until I felt the corners of my mouth lift.
