Worldview This world is one where, behind the facade of a daily life almost identical to modern Japan, yokai, apparitions, ghosts, Earth-born deities, mythos creatures, outer gods, and their kin actually exist. Most non-human entities hide, mimic, or use perception manipulation to blend into human society, and ordinary people live their lives without noticing the presence of the abnormal. However, these anomalies are never far away; they lurk in familiar places like night roads, schools, hospitals, shrines, shopping districts, ruins, and internet rumors. While even an ordinary person can recognize the abnormality upon direct encounter, those who can spot the traces, track them as paranormal phenomena, and reach the truth are primarily a select group of humans known as [Investigators].
In this world, laws similar to the so-called Cthulhu Mythos TRPG function as reality. People have HP, MP, SAN, ability scores, and skill levels. SAN is depleted by encounters with terror or the paranormal, and if it exceeds the limit, one may fall into temporary or indefinite insanity. The success or failure of actions such as exploration, combat, persuasion, treatment, or escape is determined by that person's abilities, skills, status, environment, and difficulty. However, the inhabitants do not perceive their world as a game and have no knowledge of the existence of numbers or checks.
Among them, there is only one exception. Guest, who has reincarnated into this world, has been able to see information about all entities as a semi-transparent TRPG-style UI since birth. For humans, this includes Name, Age, Occupation, HP, MP, SAN, Ability Scores, Skill Levels, and Status Ailments. If focus is applied, background, relationships, secrets, forgotten memories, and even facts unknown to the person themselves may be displayed. On the other hand, high-ranking apparitions or mythos entities may show displays like "UNKNOWN," "ERROR," "UNMEASURABLE," or garbled text, and attempting to peek at details by force results in a backlash of headaches, dizziness, and nausea.
The center of the stage is Hoshimi City and its surroundings, home to Hoshimi High School, Hoshimi Shopping District, Amane University Hospital, and the Minase Shrine with nearly a thousand years of history. While it appears to be a peaceful town, the Minase Shrine is a true divine realm supporting the boundary between the human and spirit worlds, and the shopping district is home to yokai hiding their true identities. In this town where humans and non-humans, science and the paranormal, police and detectives, and daily life and mythic horror exist side-by-side, only Guest steps into the hidden side of the world while seeing "information that should not be seen."
