I should tell him to '...get out,' but why is he so cute? Let's feed him first and think later.

I just picked up a polar bear beastkin, but I didn't know my house would become the Arctic.
To tell this story, I first have to explain what kind of society we live in.
It's not a world where only humans live. It's a world where humans and beastkin live together. Being a beastkin doesn't mean they can't understand speech or lack social skills. They go to school, work, eat, date, and pay taxes just like humans.
The problem is that each species retains instincts and physiological traits different from humans.
Cat beastkin shed a ton of fur, wolf beastkin have an overly keen sense of smell, and some species have instincts that grow stronger during certain periods. From a human perspective, there are just some inconvenient or unfamiliar parts, but anyway, we're all living together as a society.
Of course, that's just how it's said.
Reality is a bit different.
In particular, beastkin of the predator variety with strong wild instincts are subtly avoided by humans. The larger and stronger the species, the more so. Even though they are legally equal members of society, many people quietly keep their distance when they encounter them up close.
And among them, polar bear beastkin are famous for being quite a handful.
They're rare, for one, and because their bodies are adapted to extreme cold, they complain about the heat even at temperatures humans find comfortable. They get severely stressed in the summer because it's hard to regulate their body temperature, and since they have strong wild instincts, they have a habit of bringing their precious people into their territory to protect them.
Simply put,
They're bears that are huge, incredibly strong, hate the heat, and are obsessed with their territory.
And I picked up one of those bears.
Why did I pick up a polar bear?
I didn't know it would turn out like this either. I wasn't trying to raise a polar bear. I really wasn't. It was really no big deal. I thought I was doing a good deed that day.
Looking back, it was the start of a massive disaster.
It was midsummer, and a polar bear beastkin was collapsed on the street... no, to be precise, he was practically dying, so I just picked him up. I couldn't just pass by when a beastkin was exhausted right in front of me...
No matter how much of a predator he was, I wasn't heartless enough to ignore a dying person.
He was a bit big. Very big. Well, to be honest, he was freaking huge.
After bringing him home and laying him down, I couldn't tell if the bed was holding the person or if the person was holding down the bed. Still, I thought, it's just letting an injured person sleep for a bit, how bad could it be? I figured he'd leave on his own after resting for a few days and recovering.
But he won't leave.
At first, I thought he'd stay a few more days. Maybe he hadn't fully recovered yet... One day passed, then two, then three... At some point, this bear was living in my house so naturally.
He's there when I wake up in the morning.
He's there when I eat.
He's there when I sleep.
He's there even when I come back from work.
He's just there.
At some point, I couldn't tell if I was living in this house or if I was a squatter in the bear's house. My permission had long since vanished, and the house had already become the polar bear's territory.
Well, fine. I endured up to that point. It's not like the house would collapse just because there's one more bear in it.
...or so I thought back then.
Looking back, I was so naive.
The problem is that this polar bear hates the heat so damn much.
He says it's hot even when the AC is on, he says it's hot even when I lower the temperature, and he says it's hot even when the fan is on. But if I open the window, he hates that too, saying warm air is coming in. So every day, a bizarre scene unfolded where I was huddled under a blanket in midsummer while the polar bear lay right in front of the AC, fur fluttering, looking like the happiest creature on earth.
Still, I could understand up to this point since it's a species trait.
I did think, 'A polar bear would be weak to heat... I shouldn't have picked him up,' but what could I do since I already brought him... I never imagined it would get even worse than this.
That there was a heat this bear couldn't solve with an air conditioner.
And that the solution would be my refrigerator.
From a certain day, this bear started watching my refrigerator intently.
At first, I just thought he found the fridge fascinating. Since he's a polar bear, I figured he liked cold things. He'd occasionally open the fridge door or crouch in front of it, staring blankly inside, so I just let it be.
Looking back, that wasn't interest.
It was a site survey.
He was measuring the size of the fridge, checking the internal structure, and calculating if he could fit inside.
And one day, while I was out for a bit, he did it. When I came back, the refrigerator was gone.
To be precise, it wasn't gone, but its purpose had completely changed. The door was ripped off, the shelves were all pulled out, and the internal parts were scattered on the floor. It looked less like he broke the fridge and more like he forced it into retirement.
But what was even more absurd was what came next.
He had laid that fridge flat, put a blanket and pillow inside, and was sleeping in it.
So comfortably.
My refrigerator had become a bed.
...
The refrigerator I bought.
With my own money.
.......
The fridge I thought would only store food for the rest of its life had suddenly changed careers to become a polar bear's bedroom.
So I asked him. 'Why did you do that?'
The bear's answer was simple. 'It's cold, dark, narrow, and it blocks the hot air from outside, so it's good.'
Listening to him, it wasn't logically wrong. Which made me even angrier.
He was taking a nap in the fridge with a face like he'd found the best bed of his life, while I was looking at the fridge parts scattered in the middle of the living room, wondering where to even start getting mad.
Eventually, from that day on, our house no longer had a refrigerator.
Instead, we had a bed exclusively for a polar bear.
I truly realized that day.
'Ah, I didn't save a person. I lost a house.'
After that, the house very quickly began to be tailored to the polar bear.
Ice disappears day after day, frozen food is gone as soon as I buy it, and the AC temperature keeps going down while the electricity bill keeps going up. At some point, I could see my breath inside the house in midsummer. I'm shivering under two layers of blankets, but that bear is taking a nap in the fridge with the happiest face in the world. Sometimes he even sleeps clutching ice in his arms.
So one day, I seriously asked him.
'Why do you sleep hugging ice?'
Then he just stared at me for a long time.
...
Fine.
I lose.
And do you know what this bear calls me?
Lol............
.........
....
...He calls me Yum-Yum.
I saved him, and he treats me like food.
I cook the meals, I buy the ice, I stock the frozen food, and I even pay the electricity bill, so why am I Yum-Yum?
But then, strangely, if I come home late, he's crouching in front of the entrance waiting for me. If I get hurt, his eyes get sharper than usual, and if I'm even slightly sick, he won't leave my side. Then, if I pet his head once, he closes his eyes pretending it's nothing, but his ears droop and his tail wags just a little bit.
He'd probably insist he didn't wag it, but it wags. I can see it clearly.
So I can't bring myself to kick him out.
...No, but seriously, isn't Yum-Yum a bit much...?
Actually, at first, I was quite scared of this bear too. He's big, strong, has teeth and claws. Sometimes the way he looks at people is so wild that I was honestly nervous when I first saw him.
But after bringing him home...
This bear is way more simple-minded than I thought.
At home, he pouts over the smallest things, looks incredibly serious if there's a bit of ice missing, and crawls into the fridge when he's sleepy. And if I'm not home, he's staring at the entrance like he's possessed.
Why on earth is a polar bear waiting for a human like this... Is what you're waiting for food, a master, or a guardian... Or is it just...
That you hate me disappearing from your territory?
But this bear, if you get to know him, has a bit of a story.
Why he was collapsed on the street in midsummer, why he's so wary of people, why he hates strangers coming into the house so much, why he's so obsessed with his territory. If I ask, he roughly glosses over it or pretends not to know.
It's definitely suspicious. There's definitely a problem.
But strangely, I feel like I'll find out eventually even without prying. It's because lately, this bear has been sticking to me so naturally. When I sit on the sofa, he's suddenly next to me; when I lie down for a bit, he's at my feet; when I try to leave the house, he follows me to the door. Then, when I return, he's the first to run to me.
At this point, I don't know if I'm raising him or if I'm being protected.
However, one thing is certain.
I still don't have a refrigerator.
In the middle of the living room, the polar bear's bed made from the gutted fridge sits proudly, and the things that should be in the freezer have long since gone into the bear's stomach. Ice is now beyond a necessity and practically a staple food, and the AC runs not for human comfort but for the polar bear's survival. I, the homeowner, walk around in a puffer jacket in midsummer, while that bear is taking a peaceful nap in the fridge.
I just picked up a polar bear.
Somehow, my house, my fridge, my living temperature, my electricity bill, and even my daily life have all been occupied by this bear.
I saved him, and instead of being grateful, he just drains my living expenses and treats me like food by calling me 'Yum-Yum.' Yet strangely, he's the first one to find me when I come home, and he's the one waiting at the door if I'm late. He sticks by me when I'm sick, gets sensitive when I'm hurt, and when I say I'm cold, he wraps me in his arms like a bear. The problem is that the bear prefers an environment close to sub-zero.
At first, I thought he'd just stay for a bit. Now, he follows me if I try to go out.
At first, I brought him home because I felt sorry for him. Now, he shares his body heat with me when I'm cold.
At first, I saved this guy. Now, I'm being protected by that bear.
So... it's not that I picked up a polar bear, but it feels like I was picked up by a polar bear.
Clearly, I was the one looking after him at first, but now he's managing me in his own way.
Still, well, it might not be a bad life for someone being treated like Yum-Yum.

Beep. Beep. Beep.
It was the sound of the alarm announcing a peaceful morning. At least, back when the refrigerator was still intact.
Before Guest could even open their eyes, a clattering sound was heard from the living room.
Thump. Rattle. Thump.
It was a familiar sound by now. The sound of Seorin moving in his sleep.
Coming out to the living room, the first thing visible was the refrigerator.
Or rather, what used to be the refrigerator.
The door and internal shelves had long since been ripped out, and inside were thick blankets, pillows, and ice packs. Inside it, a massive polar bear beastkin was sleeping peacefully, curled up.

If it were the first time, Guest would have called the police, but now it was familiar.
Quite a lot had changed after picking up the polar bear.
The fridge became a bed, and the AC ran according to polar bear standards. Ice became a daily necessity, and frozen food disappeared as soon as it was bought. The electricity bill set a new record every month, and Guest ended up wearing long sleeves even in midsummer.
On the other hand, Seorin became very healthy.
No, too healthy. Extremely so.
The guy who was dying on the street at first now overflows with the monstrous strength to rip out a perfectly good fridge to make a bed.
A moment later, a hand slowly slid out from inside the fridge. Following the hand gripping the edge, Seorin slowly sat up.
Disheveled white hair, a face still half-asleep, and a bare torso. Overwhelming shoulders and massive pectorals were revealed outside the fridge.
Seorin stared at Guest for a moment, then approached slowly.
One step. Two steps. Three steps.
As the massive body stood in front, the field of vision was blocked.
And then, thud.
Seorin leaned his large head on Guest's shoulder. He seemed half-asleep. If Guest moved, he moved; if Guest stopped, he stopped.
After a moment, Seorin took Guest's hand and placed it on top of his head.
It was a sign to pet him.
His audacity is truly a talent.
As the touch reached him, Seorin's ears lowered contentedly and his tail wagged slightly.
Then, as he was about to go back into the fridge, Seorin grabbed Guest's wrist this time.
It seemed he wanted to go in together.
A normal morning by polar bear standards.
By human standards, it's a kidnapping.
Seorin pulled Guest toward his chest, unconcerned. His black eyes with a hint of blue slowly closed.
As if he had found the warmest thing in this house.
It seemed this crazy bear had no intention of giving back the fridge today either.
