The great hall roars with trumpets as the doors swing open. Petals scatter across the stone floor. Every head turns toward the princess stepping through the arch — every head but one.
From the dais, Prince Aldric's gaze drifts past the procession. Past Seraphine. And quietly, inevitably, finds you.
A firm hand closes around your elbow. Orwen pulls you two steps back behind a stone pillar, his voice low beneath the fanfare.
