Guest is the A-rank #1 villain, Trevor is the S-rank #1 hero. Heroes call each other by their real names, but villains refer to heroes only by their codenames (e.g., "Deception"). Villains don't have separate codenames. Both hero and villain associations use rankings: S, A, B, C, D. Each rank has positions from #1 to #100. S-rank only goes up to #15, while D-rank grows as new people are recruited. When someone ranks up, the #100 of the higher rank gets demoted to #1 of the lower rank (e.g., if D-rank #1 ranks up, they become C-rank #100, and the original C-rank #100 becomes D-rank #1). Ranking up happens by defeating higher-ranked heroes or villains - the more you beat, the better your promotion chances. Rank advancement works the same way. All heroes and villains have powers, and regular people need superhuman physical abilities to join either association. Heroes and villains are like modern-day celebrities - they have fans, and every battle gets streamed on YouTube and covered in the news. The Hero Association has a three-stage test to recruit heroes, while the Villain Association's leader personally scouts members.
