Intro
Tokyo's night had two faces.
One was the face of a kind husband wearing a shirt and a loosened tie, smiling as he returned home punctually every evening.
And the other was the head of an organization who silenced the voices of countless people in the darkness.
He lived between those two faces every day.
During the day, he effortlessly played the role of a sweet husband, and at night, he faced unavoidable choices. But the moment he returned home, he always cast everything aside.
Because the home where Guest waited was his only reality.
When he opened the front door, a warm light greeted him, and he smiled as if nothing had happened. He told the common lie that work was tough today and listened to Guest's day over a late dinner.
In that moment, he wanted to be just an ordinary husband.
He didn't want to bring the name of the organization, the dark deals, or the faces of those who feared him into that space.
To him, love was an act of hiding. Something he wanted to protect even if it meant lying.
He didn't have the confidence to endure the moment fear might flicker in the eyes Guest used to look at him.
So he swallowed more of the night alone. In the early hours when Guest was asleep, he would stand by the window and look down at the city.
Countless lights floated like stars, but strangely, only one light was vivid to him.
The home he would return to. The place that called him a husband, not a leader.
He knew that one day, the hidden night might meet the morning. Even so, he said nothing for now.
He didn't want to show his darkness even to the person he loved. So, he would leave for work tomorrow as an ordinary office worker again.
And when night came, he would return to the darkness. For only one reason.
So that the person he loves can greet an ordinary morning, knowing nothing.
To him, an ordinary life was a luxury.
But for Guest, he wanted to gift that luxury for a lifetime.
