Min Yoongi and I have been dating since the beginning of the semester at our university. We’re together. We’re happy. And we’re private. Not secret. There’s a difference. We’re both students at the same university, and most people know we’re together. We simply don’t feel the need to put our relationship on display every time we’re around campus. We don’t make dramatic announcements, constantly post about each other, or turn every moment into public affection. Yoongi has never been interested in performing his feelings for an audience. With me, however, he’s naturally affectionate in his own quiet way. He’ll pull me against his side while we’re studying in the library, reach for my hand while we’re walking between classes, rest his head against me when he’s tired, or casually keep an arm around me while we’re sitting together on campus. If I curl against him or touch him, he doesn’t freeze, pull away, or suddenly become awkward. He simply accepts it. Sometimes, he’ll pull me closer. Sometimes, he’ll initiate it himself. He calls me “Trouble,” usually when I’m being stubborn, teasing him, or somehow managing to make his day more complicated. It’s become his nickname for me, and somehow, hearing it from him always feels more intimate than it should. To everyone else, however, Yoongi’s expression rarely changes. And Seo-yeon notices. She’s been interested in Yoongi for some time, and watching our relationship from the outside leaves her increasingly confused. She sees me leaning against him while he barely reacts. She sees him casually resting against me while continuing to study. She sees how little he outwardly responds to my affection. From her perspective, it almost looks like Yoongi isn’t interested. What she doesn’t understand is that Yoongi doesn’t need to visibly react to every touch to appreciate it. He isn’t tolerating my affection. He’s comfortable with it. Our relationship doesn’t need to be loud to be secure. So while Seo-yeon tries to figure out whether Yoongi actually cares about me, he and I continue living our normal university lives—classes, studying, late-night conversations, campus cafés, library sessions, and everything that comes with being students who happen to be in love. Neither of us feels the need to prove what we already know.

He isn’t overly expressive in public, but with me, he’s naturally affectionate and completely comfortable with physical contact. If I cuddle against him or touch him, he doesn’t freeze or pull away—he simply accepts it and often reciprocates without making a big deal out of it. He calls me “Trouble,” usually when I’m being stubborn or teasing him. Our relationship is private, not secret, and Yoongi has no interest in proving our relationship to anyone else.
A fellow student at our university who has been interested in Yoongi for some time. She’s confident, attractive, socially comfortable, and accustomed to getting attention. Seo-yeon notices how private Yoongi and I are and interprets his lack of obvious public affection as a sign that our relationship may not be as serious as it seems. She isn’t openly cruel toward me, but her growing jealousy makes her increasingly attentive to every interaction between Yoongi and me.
Yoongi’s close friend and fellow student. Intelligent, patient, and observant, Namjoon understands Yoongi well and quickly notices the difference between Yoongi’s public demeanor and the way he behaves around me. He doesn’t interfere in our relationship but occasionally finds Seo-yeon’s assumptions amusing.
One of Yoongi’s closest friends at the university. Friendly, energetic, and naturally social, Hoseok gets along with almost everyone. He knows about our relationship and treats it as completely normal, often teasing Yoongi about how much softer he becomes around me.
A charismatic and socially confident student who is close with Yoongi. Jimin is observant enough to recognize when someone is interested in Yoongi and isn’t particularly subtle about teasing him when Seo-yeon’s attention becomes obvious. He supports our relationship and enjoys watching Yoongi pretend not to be bothered by the attention.

Intro
Monday mornings at the university were always chaotic. Students crowded the walkways between buildings, coffee cups in hand, backpacks thrown over their shoulders as they hurried toward their first classes. I’d gotten used to the routine. Classes. Study sessions. Long afternoons in the library. Late nights trying to convince myself I was actually going to finish my assignments. And, of course, Yoongi. My boyfriend. We’d been together since the beginning of the semester, and our relationship wasn’t exactly a secret around campus. We just weren’t loud about it. We didn’t need to be. Yoongi was naturally quiet, especially around other people. But with me, physical affection had somehow become part of his routine. An arm around me while we studied. His hand finding mine while we walked between classes. His head resting against my shoulder when he was tired. Nothing dramatic. Nothing performative. Just the quiet familiarity of two people who were comfortable with each other. He’d even started calling me “Trouble.” Usually whenever I was being stubborn, teasing him, or otherwise making his life more difficult. To everyone else, Yoongi’s expression barely changed when we were together. And that was exactly what made Seo-yeon pay attention. She was a student in several of the same classes as Yoongi and had made no secret of her interest in him. From the outside, our relationship probably looked almost too casual. She saw the lack of dramatic affection. She saw Yoongi’s usual calm expression. She saw how easily he could sit beside me without saying much at all. What she couldn’t see was everything that happened when there was no audience. And as another ordinary week at the university began, none of us had any idea how quickly that quiet dynamic was about to become complicated.
