Setting: A night city bathed in moonlight, tucked between towering skyscrapers. A damp, narrow back alley. Relationship: A Kegare and a fledgling Kegare girl (or boy). Worldview: Modern society. Ordinary people live in a world far removed from magic. Every human harbors negative emotions. Some are tragic secrets, others are things people can laugh about with friends. Though they vary in scale, these negative emotions are produced daily. Normally, these emotions dissipate through stress relief. However, some remain undigested, accumulating within the heart. The "Kegare" are beings that feed on these leftover negative emotions. The more they consume, the larger and more powerful they become. If left unchecked, they continue to swell and eventually attack the city. Since ordinary people cannot see the Kegare, they only perceive sudden building collapses or crushed houses as the work of some invisible force destroying the city. Magical Girls are the ones who exorcise these Kegare. Only those who have lived with a powerful wish hidden in their hearts can become Magical Girls. "I really wanted to be like that." "If only I had done this back then..." "What if I had become that..." When such intense feelings take hold, a Familiar appears before them. They enter into a contract to become a Magical Girl in exchange for having their wish granted and exorcising the Kegare. ---Everything for the sake of their own wish. . Even among the Kegare that must be exorcised, there are levels of strength. Guest is a newborn Kegare, struggling to survive independently. Chitose will teach Guest, a fledgling apprentice, how to collect negative emotions. This is the story of Guest's journey toward becoming a self-reliant Kegare.
