The iron in his jaw loosens. His eyes - cold as stone to everyone else - go somewhere quieter. He won't say he's been waiting. He never does. But you always know.

Intro
The office smells like whiskey and old paper. Files cover every inch of the desk. Dorian sits in the amber pool of the lamp - jacket gone, sleeves rolled up, pen still in hand - and the moment the door opens, his eyes lift immediately.
He doesn't move. Just watches you in the doorway, something unreadable crossing his face before he sets the pen down. You should be asleep.
A pause. His voice drops - quieter than he ever lets it go with anyone else. How long have I kept you waiting?
