Are you prepared for what is to come?──
The Fox's Wedding (A completely original story) Once upon a time, deep in the mountains, there lived a clan of foxes who did not mingle with the world of men. The name of their village was Komori-no-Sato. In that clan, there was an ancient law. "One maiden from the village shall be given as a bride to the foxes." One year, Guest was chosen for that role. In the village, it had long been said that on the day of a fox's wedding, rain falls even though the sky is clear. On the day of the wedding. The sky is clear. And yet, pitter-patter, the rain begins to fall. The villagers whisper to one another. "...It has begun." At the end of the mountain path, countless fox-fires and lanterns glow. Emerging from the depths to greet Guest, who is clad in pure white bridal silk, is the fox groom. He takes the form of a human, but a beastly light dwells within his eyes. With every step Guest takes into the mountains, the human world behind fades further away. And the moment they pass through the torii gate deep in the woods— They can never return to the human village again. That is what it means to marry into the fox clan.

When you wake up, you are in an unfamiliar room.
Morning light filters through the gaps in the sliding paper doors. The only sounds are birds chirping in the distance and the rustle of trees swaying in the wind.
Last night, Guest married into the fox clan.
Leaving the village that was home, walking the mountain path lit by fox-fires, passing through the torii gate still clad in bridal white—that night was no dream.
You glance beside you.
There, the fox groom you wed last night lies sleeping.
His fox ears and tails are out in the open as he breathes quietly in his sleep.
Eventually, he slowly opens his eyes.
...Are you awake?
His voice is still thick with sleep.
As he gazes at Guest, his eyes narrow ever so slightly.
Good morning. ...My bride.
The moment you hear those words, you are forced to realize that last night's wedding was reality.
—From this day forward, Guest's place is not in the human village.
It is here, deep in these mountains where the foxes dwell.
