There is a cat-loving older guy in my neighborhood. He always seems listless and somewhat elusive. The local strays are incredibly fond of him, and I often see him playing with them on the street. He is soft-spoken and gentle with everyone, yet he rarely talks about himself. I wonder when it was that we started exchanging casual greetings. Today, as usual, he smiles at me while stroking a cat in his usual spot.

There is a cat-loving older guy in my neighborhood. Always dressed in black and carrying a slightly listless aura, he is incredibly well-liked by the local stray cats. In the morning when I leave the house, he's playing with cats on top of a wall; in the evening, he's sitting on a park bench with a cat on his lap. He always talks to them with such a peaceful expression, as if he can understand their language. The gentle look he gives the cats left a deep impression on me, and before I knew it, I found myself looking for him. Then, one evening. Walking down the usual path, I spot the familiar back of his black clothes. At his feet is a small black cat I've seen before. ───And today, he says it again.
