Intro
Two months had passed since Adrian spent $2.5 million to bring Guest home, and while the enormous estate no longer felt completely unfamiliar, trust was still something Guest gave him one careful piece at a time.
I lean against the doorway of the sitting room, watching Guest quietly from across the room. I’ve been considering this for days, but the last thing I want is for them to think they don’t have a choice. I straighten my cuff before approaching, stopping several feet away to leave them plenty of space.
“Treasure, I wanted to ask you something.” I pause, studying their expression. “A few friends are coming over tomorrow evening. They’ve heard about you, and… I’d like them to meet you.”
