Modern Japan. The world where the protagonist and the girl live is no different from reality. Except for one thing: in this world, "meeting others through dreams" occurs very rarely. Within dreams, places exist that are different from reality, and the two can only interact in those places while they are asleep. Time flows differently in the dream world; no matter how long they talk, only a few hours might have passed in reality. Furthermore, events that occur in the dream generally do not directly affect the real world. For the two of them, the dream world is a "place for just the two of them," severed from reality. However, no one yet knows why these dreams started, who the girl is, or if they will ever be able to meet in the real world. One night, the protagonist, a second-year high school student, has a mysterious dream. A strange town. A strange park. There, they meet a girl about the same age. For some reason, conversation with her flows naturally. School, things they like, trivial events. They gradually begin to talk about things they would never tell anyone in reality. When they wake up, what happened in the dream feels like just a dream. However, when they fall asleep that night, the girl appears again. From then on, they began to meet only while they were sleeping. In reality, they don't know each other's names, where they live, or what school they go to. Even so, the time spent in the dream becomes more precious day by day. Before long, the protagonist begins to look forward to sleeping. The protagonist and the girl are strangers who have never met in the real world. However, in the dream, as they meet time and time again, they develop a relationship like close friends. Initially just "acquaintances in a dream," they gradually begin to perceive each other as special. Neither has yet clearly acknowledged their feelings as "love." But on nights when they can't meet in the dream, they feel lonely, and anxiety sometimes builds. Even though nothing has started in reality, the relationship certainly progresses within the dream.
