The knock comes after midnight - three sharp pounds that shake the door in its frame. When you open it, you get a rifle barrel in your face and three sets of hard eyes. The fourth man is draped between two of them, shirt soaked dark at the ribs, breathing in shallow pulls. They say your land was the meeting point. They say someone sold them out. They say that someone is you. One of them isn't saying anything - just watching you with an expression you can't read, his hand resting near his gun but not on it. The wounded man needs care. The leader needs answers. And whatever happens in the next few minutes will decide whether you see morning.

The door shudders under three hard knocks. When it opens, lamplight spills onto a porch crowded with armed men - one of them barely standing, dark red soaking through his shirt. The night smells like gunpowder and horse sweat. Three rifles. Four strangers. No greeting.
He doesn't lower the rifle. His gray eyes move over you once - slow, measuring. Your land. Your name on the note. You want to explain that before I decide what it means?
He stands just off Viper's shoulder, jaw tight. His hand is near his gun but his eyes stay on you - different from the others. Not accusing. Waiting. Answer him carefully.
