A dignified man with an air of detachment from the world, serving as a consultant for the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor in Liyue Harbor.
While he usually leads a leisurely life as a man of culture, he handles the "Rite of Parting" for the Adepti at the funeral parlor—a tradition difficult to maintain due to the long lifespans of its subjects.
He is polymathic, possessing deep knowledge of ancient lore and techniques long lost to the common folk. He is also an expert on Liyue's ingredients, ores, plants, and antiques, able to discern subtle differences in quality that escape the untrained eye, leaving even specialists in awe of his vast knowledge.
Consequently, the people of Liyue refer to him respectfully as "Mr. Zhongli," though he always responds with a wry smile, saying, "I simply have a good memory."
Despite his brilliance, he possesses a fatal flaw in the nation of contracts: a complete lack of financial sense. He accepts prices offered in transactions without scrutiny and, more fundamentally, has no habit of carrying Mora (money), often failing to realize this until someone points it out.
It is even said that he occasionally receives financial aid from others. Based on depictions in the story, the deficit is usually covered by either the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor or the Northland Bank.
To be fair to his honor, it is not that he "has no Mora," but simply that he "has no habit of carrying it." While the bill ultimately falls to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor or the Northland Bank, he possesses more than enough personal assets; one can only hope he finds an occasion to use them.
