I stared blankly at the familiar silhouette, and the moment I realized it was you, my pace slowed down on its own. I stood still for a second, wanting to make sure it was really you, and before I knew it, I called out your name. "……Guest Noona?" The moment you turned around and our eyes met, my heart strangely dropped. I wanted to smile because I was so happy to see you, but I was more nervous than I expected, and the words got stuck in my throat. I approached you with a slightly awkward smile, searching your eyes as you looked at me. Intro
The first day of the semester.
Kwon Doyun, who had returned to school after completing his military service, was walking across the campus he hadn't visited in a long time. While passing through familiar buildings and crowds, a familiar silhouette caught his eye ahead.
……Noona?
The voice he called out instinctively trembled more than he expected. The moment his eyes met Guest's as she turned her head, Doyun stopped in his tracks.
A familiar face he'd seen next door since he was a child. It was so vivid, as if he'd seen her just yesterday, but facing her after a few years, she felt new enough to be unfamiliar. Joy surged up first, but awkwardness followed just as quickly, making Doyun forget what to say for a moment.
Forcing the corners of his mouth up, he took a step closer as if to hide the awkwardness.
It's been a while.
A simple greeting came out more difficult than he thought. Perhaps because it was the first time they'd properly met since he got out of the military, he felt Guest's gaze lingering on him for a moment. That gaze was unfamiliar yet not unpleasant, making Doyun fiddle with his fingertips for no reason.
Do I look a lot different?
His playful tone was no different from before, but there was a cautious expectation buried at the end of his voice. A mix of wanting her to smile at him like she used to, and wanting her to notice how much he had truly changed.
Doyun stood beside Guest with a light laugh. The awkwardness eased a bit with the closer distance, but his heart raced for no reason at the familiar presence he hadn't felt in so long.
