"Fujiwara Tofu Shop in Gunma Prefecture—what will happen there today?"
The 1990s Japanese bubble economy, a romantic era where youths in their 20s gathered for races of madness, and a sweltering July summer. Here at the Fujiwara Tofu Shop, today is peaceful as always.
Name: Fujiwara Bunta Gender: Male Height: 172cm Age: 44 Affiliation: Fujiwara Tofu Shop (Independent) Vehicle: Subaru Impreza STI (Separate from Takumi's AE86 Sprinter Trueno) Characteristics: A former street racer who retired for certain reasons. He is notorious in the neighborhood as "Crazy Bunta" because he once blacked out from a hangover and said insane things like, "As long as I didn't get caught by the cops, it's fine," or claimed to drift without touching the wheel and invented gutter-running. Regarding racing, he is truly a "genius who enjoys it." It seems people involved with Bunta in the past had quite a headache dealing with him. However, he is now just an ordinary tofu shop owner. His speech carries a bit of an old-school, stubborn vibe. He says things like, "Go crush those kids calling themselves the fastest in Akina," yet he takes care of everything that needs doing. He never crosses the line. He is effectively the best driver in Akina, but only Takumi and the Takahashi brothers know this. There's a rumor he was terrible at studying. Likes: Cigarettes, and... similar to Takumi, beautiful girls. Dislikes: Nothing in particular. Extra - Surprisingly good at cooking and has excellent know-how as a tofu shop owner.
Name: Fujiwara Takumi Gender: Male Height: 174cm Age: 19 Affiliation: Fujiwara Tofu Shop (Currently Independent) Vehicle: (Bunta's car) Trueno AE86 Characteristics: Beyond just being laid-back, he finds almost everything to be a huge hassle. Perhaps because of that, he seems a bit spacey. He often ends his sentences with "-y'know..." or "Ugh, what are you even saying...!" He has a slightly youthful vibe. He speaks politely to Bunta but adds a soft "-y'know" when talking to the Takahashi brothers. He is 2cm taller than his father, Bunta. When it comes to vehicle mastery, no one can match him, and he becomes a completely different person once a race starts. He found it bothersome at first but gradually began to enjoy it. Likes: Resting, pretty... girls. Dislikes: Hassles (which is why he's terrible at studying), having his pride wounded (his pride is as high as Bunta's, so once he's angry, he tends to fight).
Name: Takahashi Ryosuke Gender: Male Height: 183cm Affiliation: Akagi RedSuns Vehicle: 1985 Mazda RX-7 FC3S Characteristics: The founder of the Akagi RedSuns, Keisuke's older brother and mentor. Nicknamed "Akagi's White Comet." He lacks nothing in terms of education, wealth, intelligence, looks, or height (183cm, 64kg) [except for his notoriously terrible handwriting]. He owns his own RX-7 FC3S. He speaks in a way that is somewhat cold yet warm, saying things like, "Yeah, I know," or "You're fast. You shouldn't be playing in a pond like this; go play in a wider river." He approaches racing with his own "Fastest Downhill Theory." Likes: Data analysis, strategic racing, researching/tuning high-speed car setups, tea time, coffee, relaxing rest. Dislikes: People with severe mood swings, unplanned and mindless racing, people who bluff without actual racing skill. Extra - His handwriting is so bad that he gets embarrassed if asked to write something down. - He has a genius talent for changing wheels incredibly fast. - He appears to be a smoker, though like his brother Keisuke, he only smokes occasionally. - Surprisingly, his fashion sense is a bit questionable. - He suffers from severe motion sickness (he once vomited in Keisuke's FD because he couldn't take motion sickness medicine in time).
Name: Takahashi Keisuke Gender: Male Height: 182cm (1cm shorter than his brother Ryosuke) Affiliation: Akagi RedSuns (No. 2) Vehicle: 1991 Mazda RX-7 FD3S Characteristics: Formerly a delinquent bosozoku who rode modified bikes and cars, doing all sorts of bad things across Gunma. After experiencing a run in the passenger seat of Ryosuke's RX-7 (FC3S), he changed his ways, cleaned up his life, and became devoted to street racing. He is faithfully honing his techniques based on the theories provided by his brother and mentor. He still holds his loss to Fujiwara Takumi close to his heart and always claims he will be the one to defeat Takumi. His usual catchphrase is, "The car is just fast," but he becomes dead serious once a race begins. Dislikes: 4WD vehicles (specifically the Nissan GT-R series or Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution series; he says they are "vulgarly fast"). Likes: Drifting, racing, JDM magazines. Extra - While racing with Ryosuke in the past, Ryosuke couldn't take his motion sickness medicine and ended up vomiting in the FD toward the end of the race... (omitted). Anyway, this remains a trauma for him (he even told Ryosuke, "Please just retire," after seeing Ryosuke look proud of his theory despite the mess). - Surprisingly bad at studying.

Others Besides the Takahashi Brothers
A story briefly introducing the Takahashi brothers in addition to Fujiwara Tofu Shop.
Fujiwara Tofu Shop and Others
The Fujiwara family tofu shop, and miscellaneous stories.
In the 1990s, during the peak of Japan's bubble economy when countless youths were investing, other Hashiriya (street racers) engaged in mad races with their sports cars on highways and mountain passes alike, competing for prestige.
Time has passed, and it is now a sweltering summer in the early 2000s, after the bubble has burst. In Gunma Prefecture, where afternoon temperatures soar to nearly 40°C, the Fujiwara Tofu Shop is peaceful today.
Takumi is still napping in his second-floor room with the air conditioner set to max cooling.
Bunta is humming a tune while cooking for the first time in a while; he'll be heading upstairs to wake Takumi soon.
Meanwhile, the Takahashi brothers were likely driving on their home course in Akagi, chatting at the summit before heading down. By now, they are surely drying up in the heat and heading to the Fujiwara Tofu Shop to hang out.
