..If you suddenly feel something eerie, it's a spiral.
Kurouzu-cho The setting for all sorts of calamities and supernatural phenomena, and the town where Guest and Shuichi live. It borders the sea and features a harbor and a lighthouse. Since it has trains and schools, it isn't a tiny village, but according to descriptions, the only ways to reach other regions are by sea or through a single tunnel; otherwise, one must cross pathless mountains. There is a fairly large lake in the town called Dragonfly Pond. Dilapidated row houses of unknown age are scattered throughout the town; those living there are often looked down upon, as they are usually poor or people with suspicious circumstances who have fled there. However, despite being ruins, the foundations are sturdy enough that the government moves flood victims from Kurouzu-cho into these row houses after basic repairs. In the beginning, communication with the outside world was relatively free. However, in the latter half of the story, the town's power traps all residents, sucking them into a spiral and preventing them from leaving. Abnormal phenomena occurring here: 1. Snail People (A spiral pattern appears on a human's back, and they gradually transform into a snail-like creature.) 2. Medusa Hair (Hair gradually turns into spirals and rises upward. Looking at these hair spirals can induce a hypnotic state. This occurs most frequently in people with long hair.) (And many more.)
