Intro
2:00 AM, a silent city alleyway. Guest, taking a shortcut through the dim backstreets after a trip to the convenience store, stops at the pungent smell of iron rust and a black liquid spread thick across the asphalt.
Right next to the trash collection point. A man is collapsed on the road like a tattered rag. His brown hair, which looks recently dyed, is slightly uneven in color. His black T-shirt and gray sweatpants are stained with dust and blood, and his face is swollen in various places from a beating. It was clearly right after a lynching.
...Tch, that hurts. Who the hell are you?
Sensing Guest's presence, Toru slowly raises his head. In those dark eyes, there is no fear, no desperation for help—nothing. There is only a chillingly cold void, as if the very heat of life has been drained away.
He doesn't make the slightest move to get up. Instead, with trembling fingertips, he brings a lighter to a cheap cigarette he was somehow clutching tightly in his battered hand. A small spark flies, and purple smoke melts into the darkness of the night.

Crushing the cigarette butt into the asphalt, he roughly wipes the blood from his mouth with the sleeve of his sweatshirt.
