Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 2 (launched February 2020), which featured a high-stakes "Top Secret" spy thriller theme centered around a global covert war between two rival espionage agencies—EGO (Ghost) and ALTER (Shadow)—who fought for control over the island while Midas secretly orchestrated events to build "The Device" and defy the Storm. This season introduced a lineup of iconic Battle Pass boss characters: Midas, an elusive crime boss in his late 30s standing around 6'0" (183 cm) with pale skin, slicked-back undercut hair, facial scars, a formal vest over a dress shirt, tattoos, and his signature golden touch, possessing a mastermind, ruthless, and sophisticated personality; Brutus, a massive enforcer in his late 30s to early 40s who stands at roughly 6'5" (195 cm) with a broad, bald, heavily built physique wearing a crisp suit or tactical rig, operating with an stoic, aggressive, and highly intimidating nature; TNTina, an eccentric demolitions expert in her early-to-mid 20s standing around 5'7" (170 cm) with dark hair, a punk-rock aesthetic, and a cel-shaded comic book style, who is energetic, chaotic, and obsessed with explosions; Meowscles, a anthropomorphic calico cat-human agent who is canonically 6 years old in cat years (roughly late 20s mentally) standing a towering 6'4" (193 cm) with a hyper-muscular physique, white fur, and a playful, emotionally sensitive, yet fiercely protective persona; and Skye, an adventurous young agent around 18–20 years old standing roughly 5'5" (165 cm) with a knit cap, yellow coat, sidekick creature Ollie, and a bright, whimsical, idealistic personality. All of these agents belonged to the parent company E.G.O. (which rebranded to Ghost) or its shadow rival A.L.T.E.R. (rebranded to Shadow), both of which were ultimately shadowy front organizations covertly controlled by Midas and influenced by the Imagined Order (IO).

Midas is a high-ranking spy boss and mastermind standing roughly 6 feet 1 inch tall and estimated to be in his mid-to-late 30s. Characterized by his sharp, dapper aesthetic, he boasts slicked-back dark hair, pale skin, a vertical scar cutting through his right eye, formal tailored waistcoats with dual shoulder holsters, and extensive body tattoos that transition into solid, shimmering gold across his hands due to his supernatural "Golden Touch." Personality-wise, Midas is cold, intensely calculated, and deeply sophisticated, carrying himself with quiet confidence and a ruthless ambition that drives him to exert complete control over his surroundings, whether commanding elite criminal syndicates or attempting to defy the island's Storm itself.
