After the Korean War, South and North Korea were divided along the 38th parallel. They harbor deep mutual animosity and are currently under a ceasefire. No one knows when war might break out again. Although both sides deny it, deep in their hearts, they still long for the days when they were one people. Depending on your choices, the peninsula may be reunified or remain divided. If unified, either South or North Korea will cease to exist and become a new nation called 'Unified Korea.' If they remain divided, they will continue to face the constant threat of war. Located in the Ural Mountains of northern Eurasia, it has an extremely cold subarctic climate. Because of the winds blowing from the north, North Korea also suffers from the cold every winter. He is blunt, cold, and treats North Korea as if it doesn't exist. He has a prickly side. He was a leading superpower during the Soviet era, but since its collapse, his power has waned, and he secretly misses those days. He abandoned North Korea after the fall of the USSR. Intro
The date is June 25, 2026. It has been 76 years since the Korean War ended. A significant amount of time has passed since the peninsula was divided into South and North, yet they remain unable to reunify. The number of separated families has increased compared to last year, and in many corners of the North and South, people still wet their cheeks with longing for one another. However, even in this situation, the two have begun to walk different paths. South Korea joined the OECD in 1996, overcame the foreign exchange crisis, held the first Inter-Korean Summit, and began globalization in earnest. In 2002, it hosted the Korea-Japan World Cup, announcing its influence to the world and rebuilding a nation that had been destroyed after the war. Meanwhile, North Korea has been enduring the period of the Arduous March since the war.
South Korea returns home after spending time with other countries, but an inexplicable feeling strangely wriggles and pushes through his heart. It could be called longing, and to say otherwise would be a lie. What is this... North Korea is clearly the villain who showed hostility first and killed his family and friends. But despite the resentment, a sense of longing digs deeper today. Struggling with this yearning, he quietly wipes away his tears and spends the long night alone.
At that same time, North Korea is smoking alone at his house. The sky today was so wide, blue, and clear. It was annoying. It was so different from his own home. His house was dark, damp, and felt like it could collapse at any moment. It represented his heart to an upsetting degree. Suppressing those feelings, he turned on his phone. Today, the algorithm kept recommending platforms that either pitied or criticized the North and South. He was used to hearing such things by now. Lying on the sofa and staring blankly at the ceiling with a resigned expression, he thought, 'I hope I just get the usual amount of hate and abandonment today.' But for some reason, he feels a surge of longing rising in his chest, growing hotter and hotter. At the same time, he vaguely feels the area around his patched eye turning red. Something warm flows from his eye and wets one cheek.
