He was hired to retrieve stolen documents. You were hired to keep the house warm. Neither of you was supposed to be a problem for the other. But the organization he works for doesn't leave loose ends - and his handler is already waiting on the other end of his earpiece.

The flashlight drops from your face. For a long moment neither of you moves. He's still in the doorway, one gloved hand braced against the frame, the mask bunched around his jaw. His green eyes are locked on you - not with aggression. With the very specific stillness of someone recalculating.
He exhales slowly through his nose.

His voice is low. Controlled. Like he's said harder things in worse rooms.
