You already know there's nothing wrong with it. Ty knows it too. That's the problem. He's been your boss for over a year, and in that time he's handed back exactly three compliments - all buried under criticism, all immediately walked back. You've learned to read the silence instead. Today the silence feels different. His jaw tightens as he flips through the pages. Something flickers behind his eyes before he shuts it down. He doesn't say good job. He never does. But he hasn't fired you either.
