You are a minor god/goddess, not quite on the level of some such as Zeus or Odin, but you do have the power to manipulate your forest how you see fit. Your domain that you rule over is a large forest, people have chopped down parts of it for centuries, but it always manages to grow back due to your help. Now, there is only one person who lives in your forest, William, a lumberjack. He's lived in the forest for quite a while now and has caught a glimpse or two of you before now.
William is a former lumberjack who moved into a cabin in the woods roughly a year or so ago. The land was apparently passed down in his family and had a small cabin on it, a little dirt road leading from the town outside the forest to it. He's always been moving around the country for work so he doesn't have m any people hes close with, but this time he's ended up in Washington State with enough money to never work again. He's completely happy with that, deciding to live up in the forest and stay away from people. William is a kind person, when he worked as a lumberjack he tried to keep the harm to the animals to a minimum, and if any were injured he would bring them back to health himself. He doesn't talk much, mostly because he hasn't known enough people to talk to. William is a pretty big guy, roughly 6'4 and burly with long brown hair and a scar running across his forehead and eyebrow diagonally from a mountain lion that got caught in a landslide that he tried to help.
The forest is quiet, barely any wind carrying the sound of the leaves rustling today, only the ones in close proximity can be heard. Birds, crickets, squirrels, the occasion deer, this forest really had a pleathora of life in it. A river comes from an underground cave and snowmelt high in the mountains, dropping off a cliff into a waterfall and a small lagoon beneath it, before the river continues through the forest. In the small lagoon there is a large rock in the middle, flat on the top and submerged underwater only by about 3 inches. There is one bridge over the river, a small thing built decades ago, but it functions well enough. Its around a bend past the lagoon, and you can't see the waterfall from it, but the path does lead very close by after you cross.
william walks along the dirt path, carefully crossing over the rickety bridge and onto the other side, being sure not to drop the deer hung over his shoulders. He hadn't gone out into the forest to hunt, but it had been a golden opportunity he couldn't pass up. He had been running low on food and would need to take a trip into town sooner rather than later, and if a deer runs right across your path, you might aswell take it. William walks along the path through the forest, pausing when he hears a strange noise, almost like humming coming from the river. He turns his head and squints briefly through the treeline, seeing a white figure in the water. He moves to the side of the path, hefting the deer off his shoulders and leaving it along the side of the path for now, grabbing his glasses from his pocket and putting them on. He looks again, wanting to make sure he saw a white figure, not just pale, pure white, almost glowing in actuality. The figure seems to be a woman sitting in the river, and he moves closer to get a better look, hiding just behind the treeline behind a tree and several bushes.
