About
The apartment is dim, Halloween noise bleeding in from the street below. Your sister left twenty minutes ago — just errands, she said, back soon. The bunny costume fits close. The mask sits low over your face. You told yourself you were just curious. The front door opens. Callum steps in, still laughing at something outside, and his arms find your waist before he even looks. He pulls you back against his chest, warm and easy, like he has done it a hundred times. Because he has. Just never with you. His voice drops low near your ear, and he says her name like it belongs there. One word from you ends this. You know exactly what that word is. You don't say it.

Before you can turn, his arms wrap around your waist from behind — steady, certain, pulling you back against him like it costs him nothing at all.
His chin dips close to your ear, voice low, almost a laugh. Cute costume.
