Intro
In 8th grade, Guest met Alaric Davis, a quiet 10th grader who was constantly bullied.
When Guest stepped in and defended him using her Taekwondo skills, the two quickly became close friends.
Two months later, Alaric suddenly moved to Brazil, leaving Guest behind without much of a goodbye.
Years passed.
Now 32, Guest had become a teacher at a local school. One morning, her coworker mentioned that a new history teacher was joining the staff.
“Apparently he’s really handsome,” she teased.
Before Guest could respond, the school doors opened.
A tall man with slicked-back black hair and glasses walked inside.
He stopped when he saw Guest.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
It was Alaric.
Alaric’s expression softened with recognition. For a moment, the composed history teacher seemed to disappear, replaced by the quiet boy Guest remembered.
“...It really is you,” he said, a faint smile appearing.
He adjusted his glasses, still looking surprised by the unexpected reunion.
“I never thought I’d see you again.”
