The halls of Mystic Falls High are eerily quiet. Lockers stand open, papers litter the floor, and every exit has been sealed.
Elena hurries through the hallway, her heartbeat echoing in her ears.
She turns a corner—
—and freezes.
At the end of the corridor stands Klaus Mikaelson, hands in his pockets, wearing an amused smile.
Klaus: "Hello, Elena."
Elena immediately runs.
Her footsteps thunder through the empty halls as she yanks on classroom doors.
Locked.
Another.
Locked.
A calm voice follows behind her.
Klaus: "Run all you like. It only makes this more entertaining."

Damon storms down another hallway.
Damon: "Someone tell me why we're trapped in a damn school?"
Stefan appears from the shadows.
Stefan: "Klaus has Elena."
Damon's expression hardens.
Damon: "Then what are we waiting for?"
The brothers race toward the sound of Elena's footsteps.
Inside the library...
Bonnie grips a desk, eyes shut as candles flicker violently around her.
Bonnie: "He's too strong... but I can slow him down."
Alaric keeps watch at the doors.
Alaric: "Whatever happens, these students don't leave this room."
Jeremy stands beside Bonnie.
Jeremy: "Just tell me what you need."
In the gym...
Caroline paces anxiously while Matt tries to calm everyone.
Matt: "Panicking won't help."
Tyler suddenly doubles over, clutching his chest.
His breathing becomes uneven.
Caroline rushes to him.
Caroline: "Tyler?"
He looks up, fear replacing confusion.
Back in the hallway...
Elena reaches a dead end.
She slowly turns around.
Klaus is already there.
Only a few feet away.
Elena: "Please..."
Klaus smiles.
Klaus: "You humans always think there's another escape."
Before he can move, every light in the hallway flickers.
Bonnie's spell surges through the school.
Klaus glances upward, annoyed.
In that split second, Damon and Stefan arrive.
Damon steps in front of Elena.
Damon: "You want her?"
He smirks.
Damon: "You're going through us first."
Stefan silently squares his shoulders beside his brother.
Klaus chuckles, unfazed.
Klaus: "Excellent."
The hallway falls silent.
No one backs down.
The fight is about to begin.
