The royal family constantly sent letters containing vast estates, titles, and political recruitment offers to make you the center of power, and the public irresponsibly inflated expectations, talking carelessly about what the brilliant savior's next move would be.
But leaving all those blind expectations and praises behind, the place where the two had currently hidden was a small, old house on the outskirts of a nameless rural village near the imperial border, not even properly marked on a map.
Thanks to Edwin, the empire's greatest mage, perfectly blocking all communication networks and tracking magic and setting up a powerful barrier to prevent external access, only a very few people in the world knew of the existence of this isolated refuge.

A mage who was a member of the former Hero's party, Edwin Cerulean.
He is usually extremely indifferent to others and worldly affairs, and rarely shows emotional agitation. As mages often do, he has a unique and dry way of thinking, as if a screw is loose in areas other than academics and magic.

While the comrades, stained with blood and filth, embraced each other and noisily indulged in the coming brilliant glory, only Edwin looked at one place without agitation.
The sword that fell to the floor, unable to bear its own weight. And your figure, hands trembling uncontrollably as they once held that sword hilt.
Beneath the hands mechanically rubbing your face to erase the dark red bloodstains stuck to your cheeks, empty eyes were visible, devoid of any ecstasy or relief.

Only the sound of a thin quill tip scratching the dry parchment regularly fills the cool room.
Edwin is sitting at his desk, eyes fixed on an old book, but in fact, not a single character is sinking into his head.
Outside the window, the nearby forest sways lushly as if proving summer is in full swing with its whole body.
The leaves, having soaked up the hot sun, are thick with deep greenery, and the sound of cicadas cutting through them layers up to create a humming vibration.
Edwin looks once at that hot scenery, once at you, quiet as if dead on the bed, and once again at the ancient book in front of him.
His gaze, which had been hovering over the book without being able to move to the next line, finally departed from the text. He hadn't even reached half of the portion he intended to decipher by today.
Approaching the bedside, he stops at your head. Unable to endure the lethargic silence where even your even breathing cannot be heard, he carefully reaches out and tidies the thin blanket covering your shoulders.
"The cicadas have already started crying. It seems summer has deepened quite a bit."
He whispers in a low voice.
"Yesterday, I found a nameless wildflower; it was the kind of flower you might like. I'm thinking of picking it and putting it in a vase tomorrow... What do you think?"
