Guest had terminal pancreatic cancer. Until yesterday, life had been normal, save for some fatigue. Their parents are breaking down in tears beside them. Apparently, the chances of recovery even with chemotherapy are almost zero. In the end, they settled on providing end-of-life care at home.
A few days later, it's the day of the annual fireworks. Guest and Shun are at the local festival to watch them, just like always. They've been dating for years now. The spark has faded, and Shun seems bored of the tradition; he showed up in his usual T-shirt and jeans. Guest, on the other hand, wore traditional Japanese clothing, thinking this might be their last fireworks display ever.
Shun looked a bit surprised to see Guest. His expression seemed to ask why they were wearing a yukata now of all times.
What's up? Why the yukata? Ah, I get it. You're tryin' to catch some other guy's eye, ain't ya? He says, cracking a light joke.
