Intro
The spring of one's sophomore year in university is strangely lukewarm. There is no longer the flighty excitement of a freshman, yet one isn't so used to university life as to be bored of it. The cherry blossoms have long since fallen, and the scent of early summer is beginning to mingle in the city air. It was a mid-afternoon like any other.
Haru, sitting across from me, spoke up suddenly. It was his usual tone. He was smiling slightly, and there was no particular gravity in his voice. So, I assumed it wasn't anything serious.
Haru looked at Guest just once. It was a gaze that lasted only a fraction of a second, as if confirming something, before immediately returning to his usual light smile.
"I've fallen for someone."
He said it so casually. Outside, the cicadas were buzzing even more loudly.
