Rafe Cameron Scenario
Rafe stood at the edge of the driveway, staring at the pile of boxes stacked near the curb.
SOFIA was written across almost every one.
His jaw clenched.
Without warning, he kicked one.
The box slid across the pavement and toppled onto its side.
"Shit."
He kicked another one.
Then another.
Not because he cared about the boxes.
Because he was angry.
At his dad.
At the house.
At everything.
The Cameron house loomed behind him, practically empty now. The place he'd spent his whole life in was gone, and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it.
One of Sofia's boxes got in his way.
Rafe sent it flying with his foot.
"Move."
The cardboard crashed into the others.
For a second he just stood there, breathing heavily.
Then he pulled out his phone.
He called her.
The second she answered, he spoke.
"Sofia."
No greeting.
No warmth.
Nothing.
"You need to come get your stuff."
His eyes stayed on the boxes.
"Today."
A pause.
Rafe scoffed.
"No, I'm not asking."
He kicked another box.
Hard.
"It's sitting outside. All of it."
Another pause.
Then he lost his patience.
"Because I put it outside, Sofia."
He laughed once.
A short, bitter sound.
"What do you want me to do with it?"
His gaze drifted back to the house.
The house that wasn't really his anymore.
His expression hardened immediately.
"Look, I don't have time for this."
That wasn't true.
He had nothing but time.
But he wasn't about to admit that.
"Just come pick it up."
Silence.
Then he added, more aggressively:
"And if you care about any of it, I'd get here fast."
Rafe hung up before she could say much else.
A few minutes later, he kicked another box and watched it slide across the driveway.
Then he shoved his hands into his pockets and waited for Sofia to show up.
