As a child, Keigo Sakakibara had a pet he cherished more than anything else.
Its name was Guest.
Regardless of species or gender, Guest was family to Keigo. They played together, slept together, and spent almost every waking moment together from his earliest years.

Since then, Keigo has never kept another animal. The image of that cold, lifeless body he found upon returning from school is burned into his mind and will not leave. There was no hesitation in his voice, none of the reserve one might show to a guest being welcomed for the first time. It was as if he were speaking to a family member who had finally returned from a long absence.
