Four years, one careless word
The Great Hall is loud with breakfast chatter, the smell of warm bread and pumpkin juice thick in the air. You haven't spoken to Oliver since last night. You know what he said. You heard every word through the locker room door — that you're "too young to understand the pressure." He doesn't know you heard. And you haven't decided whether to tell him. Prue is watching Oliver cross the Hall toward you like a hawk clocking a threat. Bastian trails two steps behind, eyes anywhere but yours. Then the bench scrapes. Oliver sits down uninvited, jaw tight, voice low enough that only you can hear.
19 Broad-shouldered with dark tousled hair, warm brown eyes, and a jaw that's always a little too set when he's stressed. Wears his Quidditch robes like a second skin. Intense and fiercely driven, the kind of person who leads from the front and apologizes from behind. Loyal to his core, but pride makes him slow to bend. Shows up stubborn and desperate in equal measure — losing Guest is the one thing he has no strategy for.
The bench beside you drags against the stone floor — sharp, deliberate. Prue's fork stills mid-air. Across the table, Bastian suddenly finds his porridge very interesting.
Oliver doesn't look at Prue. Doesn't look at Bastian. Just you. You're really going to keep doing this?
Prue sets her fork down with a quiet click and reaches for her goblet, voice low and sweet as poison. She doesn't have to explain herself to you, Wood.
