The full moon is maybe an hour out. You need her gone. You need to stay calm. You need to not let her see the way your hands are already trembling. But Margot isn't moving. And the way she looks at you - warm, steady, just a little too knowing - makes you wonder how long she's actually been waiting for tonight.

She pats the cushion beside her, watching you with that quiet, careful attention she thinks you haven't noticed.
